QUEENSLAND 2021 CHALLENGE

The Queensland 2021 Challenge is our primary flying season challenge and will be run over the Australian spring, summer & autumn flying season.

With over 500 turnpoints scattered across the state, there is ample opportunity for pilots everywhere
and of all skill levels to participate.

The Queensland Turnpoint Challenge is designed to encourage pilots to explore new sites and try flying in new areas to stretch their wings further in 2021.  It is also a great opportunity to build your skillset in the area of using your flying instrument for navigation, getting better at the competition and XC flying.  The challenge is also a great opportunity to see where to fly if you are a visiting pilot from another area.

We have combined the Cunnugra Cup 2020, QLD Champ 2021, Cannondale and Killarney waypoints for the Queensland Turnpoint Challenge 2021.  Flights must start in QLD, it's ok to land in another state.

Each flight must be uploaded within 2 weeks of the flight having been completed.

VICTORIA 2021 CHALLENGE

Designed to encourage pilots to try new sites and even new flying styles (inland vs coastal) this is a must-do challenge for anyone that loves their flying, wants to stretch their wings further and keep on flying through the winter..

The challenge is also a fantastic way to see where to fly if you are visiting from interstate.

All flights should be uploaded within 2 weeks of the flight having been completed AND they must be submitted within 7 days of the close of the challenge.

TASMANIAN 2021 TURNPOINT CHALLENGE

This is the first year we are running The Tasmanian Turnpoint Challenge and we are excited about it! The challenge is running for the spring and summer Australian flying season.

With over 170 turnpoints scattered across the state, there is ample opportunity for pilots everywhere and of all skill levels to participate.

The challenge is designed to encourage pilots to try to leave the hill in new directions, to encourage pilots to try new sites and even new flying styles (inland vs coastal).  This is the must-do challenge for anyone that loves their flying and wants to stretch their wings further this season.  The challenge is also a fantastic way to see where to fly if you are visiting from interstate.

Only flights from a launch identified in the challenge are accepted.  Each flight must be uploaded within 2 weeks of the flight having been completed AND all flights must be submitted within 7 days of the close of the challenge.  The challenge is open to non-powered paragliders and hang-gliders.

VICTORIA WINTER SNOWFLAKE 2021 CHALLENGE

The Victorian Winter Snowflake 2021 Challenge is our off-season challenge and will be run over the Australian winter flying season.

With over 750 turnpoints scattered across the state there is ample opportunity for pilots everywhere and of all skill levels to participate.
The winter season offers spectacular views, nearly deserted beaches and gentler thermals.

Designed to encourage pilots to try new sites and even new flying styles (inland vs coastal) this is a must-do challenge for anyone that loves their flying, wants to stretch their wings further and keep on flying through the winter..

The challenge is also a fantastic way to see where to fly if you are visiting from interstate.

All flights should be uploaded within 2 weeks of the flight having been completed AND they must be submitted within 7 days of the close of the challenge.

ACTHPA 2020 TURNPOINT CHALLENGE

When :  1 October 2020 - 31 August 2021
Where :  ACT - Australia and surrounding areas
Entry : Self Registration
Cost : Free

The ACT Turnpoint Challenge is run annually, starting this year in October after a trial run in September.  It is open to anyone flying in the Canberra region.  The task area is a mixture of flatland and inland flying.

This competition aims to foster XC novices through to advanced pilots, allowing you to hone your navigation and thermalling skills at your own pace.  Challenge yourself to get in the air, to get to that next turnpoint, or get out to a new site.

We have over 150 turnpoints including remote XC locations as well as our local sites:

  • Spring Hill
  • Lake George
  • Collector
  • Lanyon
  • Honeysuckle (Tumut)
  • Corryong (turnpoints collected here can be posted to both this and the Victorian challenge).

Each flight must be uploaded within 2 weeks of the flight having been completed & all flights must be submitted within 7 days of the close of the challenge.
